Message from Pastor James Wandera

We are in crisis, just received report from our center leaders that our orphans living with HIV/aids are starving as the care givers cannot raise anything to feed, Now that the lockdown has been extended to more 21days.we are less in funds as the church does not gather for fellowship, please let us share what we have for the sake of this little children 10kg of corn and beans will help a lot. True religion should be demonstrated now.

note - 10 kg of corn and beans costs 50000UGX  which is about £11 sterling. 

We  have collected a lot of very  useful and needed items for Uganda but need help with funding the purchase  and shipping of the container.

We also need help at this time with school fees for a number of children, in Uganda, DR Congo and Zambia.

Pastor Israel in DR Congo has severed connection with his church to concentrate on Streams of Mercy ministry, which now includes churches as well as prisons and village ministry.  They do need more support now.  They would like some funding to help set up a poultry project which would give them a steady source of income.

Pastor Samuel in Zambia  is now  an ordained minister and leads a church which meets  in a large tent on land which Streams of Mercy have  purchased.  This work could also benefit from  more support  as whenever they do ministry in a prison they try to take  in much needed aid - usually  food or toiletries.

Health facilities are difficult to access, being about 7km away with no transport. This results in childhood deaths and maternal and baby deaths when women develop problems during labour – simply because they cannot reach the facilities in time.

A medical team visit monthly but only for children under 5.

Schooling can be a problem.  At first a nursery school was begun but there was a lack of finances to keep it going.  Some children now go to schools on the nearby refugee camp. Secondary schools in particular are some distance away which, together with many family’s having problems with school fees results in young people receiving an inadequate education. There is no work for school leavers especially those with inadequate schooling.  Therefore, there is a real need for vocational training to be offered - e.g. tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing etc.

There are a lot of orphans -   due to fatalities caused by the landslides.  The community find it difficult to take care of these unfortunate children. They are placed with relatives or fostered but of course this adds extra strain on the fa

Retired Colonel and Mrs William Rwolekya   have started an agricultural project growing greens and also fruit trees.

These are irrigated by hand daily using different teams of women each day. The water is drawn from a well on the colonel’s land.  An irrigation system using a solar pump and preferably fitted to a well in the actual field would be a great help. This is a very good project which has also experimented with organic and inorganic fertilizers and proved that the results from organic fertilizing far exceed those from the inorganic fertilizers.

The Colonel also started to teach carpentry and animal husbandry.

A lot of problems with vision were reported. Some of these may simply need spectacles, others may need medical or surgical treatment. But there was also a report of problems with disabled, blind and deaf children. 

Other needs were more to do with church buildings needing completion and keyboards and PA systems requested to help with the evangelistic outreach of these churches. In one centre 15 pastors were present from the local churches - there does seem to be a united effort for outreach in the churches. There was a need for pastors to have bicycles to enable them to cover the distances they have to travel to visit people in their areas. One Officer requested a motorcycle as he needs to go to meetings and other visits which are too far away to go by cycle. Some pastors requested laptops – we were able to supply the officer at the resettlement centre with one we had taken out with us. Sponsorship for orphan children was also requested –six orphans were singled out in one centre as being in particular need. One Pastor’s widow has five children in need of support for school fees, and  two SA Officers need help with school fees.

Elizabeth loves school so much that she was prepared to crawl 2 Km each day to attend. Pastor Jimmy posted a request on Facebook for a wheelchair.  Streams of Mercy had already been given one which was on the container that recently arrived.  Then Darren Canning of Darren Canning ministry decided to pay all her education fees, boarding her in school. Thanks to all who were concerned

 1. Our Container of aid is still help up in customs. They are taking a long time to consider reassessment of the charges. This will cost money in storage. Please pray that this is soon resolved and preferably allowed tax free.

2. Pastor Jimmy has had a successful mission in TANZANIA  with  Pastor  Omar from America who does prison ministry and pastoral training.  They started in Mbeya which is a long journey and near to Alawi.place is very far towards Malawi, They had a  friend  - a partner from Soroti who  gave them transport. In all they travelled 5000Km, and led conferenceS for pastors in three area as well as prison ministry.   Pastor Omar is  based in Philadelphia, PA, USA.  He has a prison ministry called Making Others Righteous Prison Ministry.  They do ministry all over the U.S. and the world and have been doing so since 2003. He is  led by the Lord to connect with other prison ministries to minister with them as well as to do conferences to strengthen the ministers and former inmates.  When he works with  other ministries he enters  prisons with them and  shares the Word of God and blesses the inmates in anyway that they can.  During a Prison Ministry conference they bring together prison ministers and ex-inmates and come together in the name of Jesus and  spend 2 or 3 days together teaching the Word of God, sharing stories, and everyone leaves stronger and more encouraged in the Lord and more prepared for ministry and for life.    This was a good co-operation between Pastor Omar's ministry and Streams of Mercy with Pastor Jimmy.  Many opportunities have been opened up in Tanzania, and there is a prospect of Pastor Jimmy joining with Pastor Omar for a similar mission in MALAWI.  Please pray for guidanc
