Update on Radiant Love and Prison Ministry

1. How many orphan centers are now looked after by Radiant Love?

 So far four centers are directly looked after by radiant love care.
They are Bulecha centre, Bujjabi centre.Budyanga centre and Masafu centre.

Masaba centre was closed due to lack of finances,.
Mawanga centre, Busia centre and Buhubalo centers were taken over by Compassion International.

2. How many orphans are involved?

201 orphans are being reached at the moment. The number drops when some die and rises when others are identified by centre leaders.

3. What progress has been made on the new office,?

With the office we have the bricks ready now but have not raised the money to begin building. We had started fundraising for the raising of three million shillings (900 pounds) to start constructing the office.
Then unfortunately the church building collapsed during the strong rains we had and all the minds of the church members were diverted to raising money for erecting another structure in which to worship God .

 4. Any further news from the prisons - especially about those now out and going on with the Lord?
Good news is that two brothers from Namaingo prisons, Kuku John and Ojianbo Boniface are members of the church at Lolwe restoration church. Pastor Jimmy was not with us on that visit to Namaingo, just Laurie and Janis with Pastors Augustine and Fred.
Jimmy says ' As I was giving a testimony about our missions in prisons and mentioned your names he stood up and said they are two of those who responded and that since that time they have committed themselves to the Lord. I had very good time with them and promised them that I will communicate to you. that you at least write to them.

In TORORO four are in true vine church. One problem is that ex prison brother who is at school in Tororo might fail to finish his schooling as the pastor helping him cannot afford to pay school fees. If there is a way of getting somebody to help him with 30 pounds (105,000/=) per term - that will be 90 pounds a year, then pastor can care for other needs . Pray that he may remain at school.
In Masafu we have one who is with us in the church. We need your prayers as they have transferred the officer in-charge from Masafu and they are yet to send another one soon who might be a Moslem. We need your prayers for both Masafu and Namaingo prisons.

Report from Pastor Jimmy ( October 2010)
I received good reports from the work we did in October in the prisons we ministered in.
In the church in Soroti 2 prisoners are attending service, and Pastor David keeps going to Serere prison. The prison warder who got saved on that day gives him a lot of support for that work . He is very strong in the Lord.

Brother Robert Emasu of Amurea orphanage (who translated for us) has fully joined us in prison work . His report is that they have intensified the work in that prison, discipling those that got saved and quite a good number are coming to Christ.

Herbert and Wilbert in Kotido (karamoja area) are doing very good work and have caught the vision . Of the warriors who got saved three are out of prison and attend Christian family church, while two attend Herbert's village church. Unfortunately Hebert's bicycle was stolen by unknown person as he had gone to preach so he now walks a very long distance to reach the prisons and the village church on Sunday.

In Iganga the prison ministry is going on well being supervised by the bishop himself. We were visited by the former prisoners when we were in the workshop . They appreciated the work we did among them . The good news was that one brought us some money 6000/= that as we visit again we may buy soap for the prisoners.

I am fully in touch with the group in Bufulubi . Pastor Dan of Mayuge allocated a pastor to that prison and the OC there keeps ringing me and updating me about what is going on in that place.

I shared with all prison ministers how we can go about supporting children in each of our prisons - at least 1/4 a litre of milk per child per day 200/=. Pray that as we talk to the people in the churches they will be moved to give..
